Let's Eat: Discovering the Best of Greenville, Mississippi

Writer: Kevin RobinsonKevin Robinson

Our journey in search of the best dishes and the rich history of Greenville, Mississippi, began with a breathtaking view of the Greenville, Arkansas bridge. This iconic structure serves as a striking connection between the two cities, offering a picturesque backdrop that symbolizes the unity and shared culture of the region.

Grounded Sisters Coffee Cafe: A Cozy Haven

Our first stop was the charming Grounded Sisters Coffee Cafe, nestled at 509 Washington Ave. This cozy cafe cohabitates with the Downtown Butcher Shop and Mercantile, creating a unique fusion of coffee culture and culinary delights. Upon entering, we were greeted by barista extraordinaire, Will, whose passion for coffee was evident in his recommendations. Whether you're in the mood for a rich espresso, a refreshing salad, or a hearty sandwich, Grounded Sisters has something to satisfy every palate.

What truly sets this cafe apart is its ambiance. From the antique truck that showcases fresh produce to the plaster cow that adds a touch of whimsy, the decor is a delightful mix of rustic charm and modern comfort. And as someone who has a soft spot for cows, this place instantly won me over. The combination of excellent food, a warm atmosphere, and stunning views makes Grounded Sisters a must-visit spot for both locals and travelers.

The Cajun Shotgun House: A Taste of History

Our next stop took us across town to a place that holds a special place in my heart—The Cajun Shotgun House. Originally known as the Shotgun House, this restaurant was a favorite of my parents when I was a kid. Reopened in 2018 by family owner Mike Smith, this establishment has retained its charm while evolving into a hub for authentic Cajun cuisine.

During our visit, we had the pleasure of speaking with Mike and a former waitress who shared the rich history of this beloved eatery. From its humble beginnings to its current status as a local favorite,

The Cajun Shotgun House continues to serve up the best Cajun food Greenville has to offer. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, making it the perfect spot to enjoy a meal steeped in history and flavor.

Brenda Fay's Catfish and Bait Shop: A Unique Experience

Our final stop brought us to Brenda Fay's Catfish and Bait Shop, a place that combines the best of both worlds—delicious food and essential fishing supplies. Owner Ricky Dudley has created a one-of-a-kind experience where customers can purchase fresh fish, either raw or cooked, while also stocking up on bait, seasonings, and lures. It's a true embodiment of the "buy it, we'll cook it" philosophy, making it a favorite for anglers and food lovers alike.

Whether you're looking for a fresh catch to take home or a quick bite to eat, Brenda Fay's is the place to be. The laid-back atmosphere and friendly service make it a hidden gem that is well worth the visit.
