Our journey this time took us to the beautiful city of Rogers, Arkansas. Recently, Rogers has been on the road to recovery from a devastating tornado that left its mark on the city, including its cherished restaurant scene. Despite the challenges, the people of Rogers have shown immense resilience, and the local dining spots are bouncing back stronger than ever. Let’s Eat was excited to visit some of the city’s fan-favorite restaurants and rediscover the unique flavors that make Rogers a must-visit destination.
Wesner's Grill: A Family Favorite
First up, we stopped at Wesner's Grill, a beloved family restaurant that has been serving the people of Rogers for decades. Known for its hearty breakfasts and classic diner fare, Wesner’s has become a local favorite, a place where families gather for comfort food and friendly faces. Even in the wake of the tornado, Wesner’s Grill has remained a symbol of the community’s enduring spirit.
Three must-try menu items:
Chicken Fried Steak – A Southern classic, fried to golden perfection and smothered in creamy gravy.
Country Breakfast – Eggs, bacon, hash browns, and homemade biscuits, served up just the way Grandma used to make it.
Patty Melt – Juicy beef patty, grilled onions, and Swiss cheese on toasted rye bread, a diner staple done right.
Havana Tropical Grill: A Cuban Escape in Arkansas
Next, we took a culinary trip to Cuba at Havana Tropical Grill, located in the heart of Rogers. One of the few Cuban restaurants in Arkansas, Havana offers a refreshing escape with its vibrant atmosphere and authentic Cuban dishes. My server, Daisy, was an absolute gem. A one-take wonder, Daisy helped guide me through the menu, suggesting the most popular dishes with infectious enthusiasm.
Top 3 menu items:
Ropa Vieja – A traditional Cuban dish of shredded beef, slow-cooked in a flavorful tomato sauce with peppers and onions.
Cuban Sandwich – A must-have, with roasted pork, ham, Swiss cheese, pickles, and mustard on perfectly pressed Cuban bread.
Yuca Fries – Crisp on the outside, soft on the inside, these yuca fries are a delicious alternative to your usual side.
Make sure to visit Havana Tropical Grill at 203 N 2nd st., Rogers, AR 72756 for an unforgettable Cuban experience right here in Arkansas.
Wright’s Barbecue: Razorback Spirit and Smokin’ Hot BBQ
No visit to Rogers would be complete without stopping at Wright’s Barbecue, located at 5001 Pauline Whitaker Parkway. This BBQ joint is not just known for its incredible smoked meats but also for being the perfect spot to watch the Razorbacks play week after week. My visit to Wright’s Barbecue was spurred by a fan request, and let me tell you, it did not disappoint.
Wright’s BBQ is serious about their craft, marinating and slow-cooking their meats to smoky, tender perfection. Their signature style? They prep their meat by marinating it in special house-made rubs for hours, then cook it low and slow over wood-fired grills until the meat practically melts in your mouth.
Top 3 menu items:
Brisket – Juicy, flavorful, and perfectly smoked, this brisket is worth every bite.
Pulled Pork Sandwich – Tender pulled pork topped with slaw and their famous BBQ sauce.
Burnt Ends – A BBQ lover’s dream, these caramelized, smoky bites are a fan favorite.
Wright’s Barbecue is not just a place for amazing food; it’s a gathering spot where the community comes together to cheer on the Razorbacks. With plenty of TVs and an electric atmosphere, it's the place to be for BBQ and football lovers alike.
